These two Rainbow Lorikeets were among half a dozen that had flown in to an Umbrella Tree just down the road. Quite often there are flocks of them that fly overhead, screeching loudly. Coolum Beach is on the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane. When I was a child I can remember visiting the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary on the Gold Coast, south of Brisbane, holding a tin plate with bread and honey on it, covered in Rainbow Lorikeets and even having them on my head as they crowded in to feed.
