Clear, dark skies are common on Fripp Island. This is an active Sea Turtle breeding area and the locals are very conscious of the effects of light pollution. The turtles and folks who enjoy viewing the night sky are grateful.
Nikon D500 with Nikkor 135mm f2.8 QC lens (from 1973) mounted on an iOptron Sky Guider
10 exposures, each 2 minutes, ISO 1600 at f4, stacked in Photoshop to reduce noise. Blended an additional 30 second exposure to add some detail to the core on the Orion Nebula.
