I was driving back to Las Vegas from Death Valley where I had gone to view the lunar eclipse and noticed the sky had interesting clouds around thirty minutes before sunset.
I pulled off the highway, drove a little distance into Red Rock Canyon state park, and captured this image right before sunset. I guess the clouds to the west were projecting shadows upward to the sky above me. I always find it interesting when there is an upward projection of features at sunset, it is like some sort of sky beacon. That it happened the day after the eclipse made it even more special!
