As soon as I found that the sky conditions were going to be great despite the cold temperatures, I decided to do the project literally a few hours ahead of time. I took photos at 12 intervals spanning 5 hours. My equipment was a DSLR with a 100-200mm f4-5.6, 1.4x converter, and tripod. I had to continually adjust the camera's parameters to allow freedom to choose my favorites in post-processing. For the dim and red totality capture, f8, 1/10, ISO8000 worked best, which I totally didn't expect!

Canon 5Dmk4, Canon 100-400mm II f4-5.6 , Canon 1.4x III converter, Benro tripod and ballhead.

Photoshop CC 2015
I optimized using my RAW CR2 files, then created jpg's from which I then created the composite in Photoshop.
