The Wondrous Lunar Eclipse

This is the Moon during totality with the Beehive Cluster below it. I think the bright star to the right is Procyon, part of Canis Minor (literally -little dog).

The Moon is so bright that, when it is out in the sky, we never can see deep space objects like this star cluster. This is especially true of full moons. And we certainly can never see this blanket of stars.

See, fair Luna, you don't need to drown the sky with your wattage to get attention. Tonight, you were beautiful sharing the stage.

Canon 5D Mk iii astro-modified , Canon 70-200mm 2.8 Lens at 200mm on a tracking mount for the sky. Sony a6500 with SOny 100-400MM lens at 400mm with tele-converter on regular tripod head for the Moon.

The sky was processed in Deep SKy Stacker and then in Photoshop. The Moon shot was an HDR of 4 images that was blended into the sky shot. I resized the Moon so it was the same size as the one int he sky shot.
